The trip over was long and uncomfortable...the Alitalia 767 had the most uncomfortable

We seem to have beaten the jet lag by sleeping through the night and adapting
to Italian time without difficulty. The weather is stunning....sunny and warm
with a cloudless blue sky.

The weather appears to be overcast and slightly cooler today, but no rain is
in the offing. After breakfast (we did have some attitude problems with the
breakfast room waitress--she had to assert her domination of the area), we headed
off for a Tiepolo morning.

Today we are off to Cividale del Friuli, a small town about 15 km east of Udine.
On the way, we had one of those pleasant encounters that add so much to a trip.

The drive from Udine to Trieste was uneventful....Diana did the driving and
got her first experience with small town and narrow road driving when we left
the autostrada and took the shore route to Trieste.

May 1 is a major holiday in Italy--the Festa del Lavoro--and most commercial
